My name is Holly. I am a qualified Foot Health Practitioner working in and around the Rushden Northants area, providing a personalised footcare service in the comfort of a clients home. As a former nurse specialising in cardio-thoracics and surgical nursing, helping others to maintain their health has always been important to me. However, experience has shown that our feet do not always get the attention that they deserve. This is quite ironic as our feet support our whole body structure and take a huge amount of stress daily. We tend to ignore the importance of our feet until something begins to go wrong!

There may be many reasons why you may need the services of a foot health practitioner and this may not always relate to advancing years. Those in retail or hospitality who are on their feet for many hours a day may struggle with hard skin (callus) or corns as their feet are under constant pressure. If you have to wear protective footwear for work this can put pressure on the toes and create callus and corns or even ingrown nails. Medical conditions such as arthritis or diabetes or surgical intervention may mean that extra care is needed to take care of the foot. As such, anyone is prone to developing problems and therefore anyone may need the services that I can offer.

If you have never had anyone look after your feet before you may be apprehensive about what is involved. After making an initial appointment, I would come to your home and make an assessment of the lower limbs and feet and any concerns or problems you have been experiencing. This will include a medical history and any current medications taken. The nails will then be trimmed and filed. If you have been suffering with any corns or callus this will be reduced and treated accordingly. This will be followed by applying a moisturiser massaged into the lower limbs (if appropriate to do so) and feet. Advice will be given on maintenance of the feet to prevent further problems.
